Panel on Biological Hazards
The Panel on Biological Hazards assesses issues on microbiological food hygiene, contamination of food by human pathogen microorganisms and transmissible spongiform encephalopathies. The Panel also assesses the development of resistance against antimicrobials and disinfectants including transmission of resistance genes to pathogenic microorganisms.
The Norwegian Food Safety Authority (NFSA) has requested the Norwegian Scientific Committee for food safety (VKM) to conduct a risk assessment of the link between antimicrobial resistance and the content of potentially toxic metals in soil and fertilising products.
Can the use of micro-organisms in fertilising products have negative impacts on biodiversity and human, plant and animal health? The Norwegian Food Safety Authority (NFSA) and the Norwegian Environment Agency have requested the Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food Safety (VKM) to assess the potential impacts to biodiversity and health stemming from the import and use of four groups of organisms.
