The Panel assesses whether the import, release, and keeping of non-native organisms may pose a risk to biodiversity in Norway. They also evaluate other factors that may affect biodiversity.
The group of experts assesses threats to biological diversity in Norway. The group evaluates possible effects of the introduction, release, and keeping of alien organisms. The expert group also assesses alien organisms that are already established in Norway and considers measures that can reduce risk.

The Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food and Environment (VKM) carries out independent risk assessments for the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet) and the Norwegian Environment Agency (Miljødirektoratet).
